WIP Wednesday No. 33

Love linking to WIP Wed over at Freshly Pieced! And it is that time again...
It seems I've gotten quite a bit done this week. And I'm posed to finish another big project in the next couple of days. I'm really trying to get this list under control before I start another project...which, I really want to do right now!
So here goes:

*Quilt Alongs still going:
Embroidery 101 (New pattern today, I believe, yay!)
Kaleidoscope (finally decided on KS Central Park, now I'm playing with blocks!)
*Projects working on:
do.Good.Stitches May quilt
July blocks for do.Good.Stitches
Strawberry Tablecloth

*Projects on hold:
Precious Moments quilt
Lovely quilt

*Finished:
Buttercup Patchwork 2
Aprons
DS tablerunner
*New projects:
Dishtowels
Embroidery for Girls pillow

So, 9 projects going including the QAL's. But I did finish 3! Not too bad! Still working to get one or more done before the holiday weekend. How about you?
Have a great day!

Buttercup Patchwork No. 2

is finally finished! I must say, I really love this one for so many reasons.

At first I was not thrilled with the fabric after I bought it but I did have 6 yards to use so I just went for it.

I made 2 quilts from the Buttercup (by Joanna Figeroa). I think I like 2 the best. I made myself use the pieces I had left over and the extra yardage and even a few scraps to complete this one. I made the back in so many pieces! Now I like it best and I actually call it the front.

Now, what started as the front, I call the back.

I quilted this one very simply using loopy lines about every 6 inches in a grid pattern. I love the effect this has on the finished look. It is more puffy. I like.

The next finish I have planned is the do.Good.Stitches quilt. Just a few more rows to quilt and then the binding...which is already to go. I made this quite some time ago. I love making bias binding. Anyone else love it, too?

Linking to {Sew} Modern Monday (first time!) and Fabric Tuesday (again).

Have a blessed day!

A Central Park Kaleidoscope

Finally caught up on the Kaleidoscope QAL. I was kinda worried that I was going to get so far behind because for the life of me I could not make up my mind about fabric. I was going to go with Loulouthi by Anna Maria Horner. When I got to the quilt shop...I just could not make up my mind. That was weeks ago when the QAL was first announced. Then I was going to use a stack of DS fabric that I already had.
But I already had so many plans for that lovely stack. Then I saw a little stack of Central Park half yard cuts that I had. I knew that would not be enough fabric for this project but then I realized I could make the jelly roll of Central Park work if I pieced them together.
So that is what I did. I made the 6.5" strips by piecing three of the jelly roll strips together.
Then I cut them according to Elizabeth's instructions. It worked just fine.

I cut the half-yards into the corner triangles.

And I cut Kona white for the contrast.

So far it looks good to me! I have yet to experiment with blocks but I'll do that soon. It has to look great with this wonderful, colorful fabric, right?

I'm off to quilt more of my do.Good.Stitches quilt. It is almost done! I'm aiming to have it done and washed and in the mail by Friday! Wish me luck!

I hope everyone has a blessed, productive, fun week!

I'll leave you with some beautiful words from Paul. Philemon 1:4-7
I always thank my God as I remember you in my prayers, because I hear about your love for all his holy people and your faith in the Lord Jesus. I pray that your partnership with us in the faith may be effective in deepening your understanding of every good thing we share for the sake of Christ. Your love has given me great joy and encouragement, because you, brother, have refreshed the hearts of the Lord’s people.

WIP Wednesday No. 32

Time again for an inventory of projects to link to Freshly Pieced's WIP Wed.
Ah, the joy of finishing a project. I remember doing that once or twice. Just not recently!

The biggest project I have going is the quilt for do.Good.Stitches. I have top and back pieced and I'm layering and basting today but I'm still lost as to how to quilt. I'll probably go with some straight line quilting for time's sake. Here is the top:
And here is the back:
I hope Peace group likes it so far! Let me know what you all think!

Next big project is the quilting of the 2nd Buttercup Patchwork (above is the back of the quilt). I.cant.wait.to.get.this.done.
The other project taking lots of my headspace is the Kaleidoscope QAL. I dont know what fabric to use! Help!

Other than that the list is the same as last WIP Wednesday. Plus I added a new project. I'm making a table runner using the DS fabric I've been hoarding. This has been a pleasure to work on. I've done two things I've never done before on this one. More on that later...when it is actually finished!

I hope ya'll are having fun with summer sewing projects! I can't wait to see what everyone else is doing and hope to be inspired to finish some of my own! God Bless!

1st QAL Block Complete

What fun it is to sew the same pattern along with others! I love looking at the progress of others and seeing how different their blocks look from my own.

I finished the embroidery on Block #1 in good time. It only took a couple of hours total. I must say this was great fun to do a small simple embroidery project. These are the finishes that keep me going in between the large projects. Here is my first finished block for Clover and Violets Embroidery 101 QAL:

This QAL business is very fun. I'm glad I joined this one!

Here's to everyone having a blessed week! Have fun sewing and enjoying summer!

WIP Wednesday No. 31

Linking this post to Freshly Pieced WiP Wednesday!
Through the weekend and up to now my progress has sort of stalled. At least when it comes to sewing. I have worked on several projects but not one of them is complete sadly.

But I did sign up for the Friday Night Sew In this month and I've got a plan! I know what I'm going to work on this time! Needless to say, I have high hopes for completing something!

I did, however, make some progress on the May quilt for the Peace Circle of do.Good.Stitches. I have the top completed and I'm almost done piecing the back. That will maybe get done this week and be basted and ready to quilt by the weekend. I can sure hope. It would be really really nice to get one or two of these projects done so I can start something new! I'm anxious to cut into some fabric! I'm hoping the Kaleidoscope QAL will be just the cure for this. I'm still deciding on fabrics. I was going to go with Loulouthi but I'm not sure I want to now. I'm looking at a stack of Central Park that I may end up using.

Here's the recap:
Projects Finished - 0
Projects in Progress - 8

1. do.Good.Stitches quilt
2. Aprons
3. Strawberry Tablecloth
4. Buttercup Patchwork #2
5. Clover and Violet QAL
6. Choosing fabric for Kaleidoscope QAL
7. PM quilt (on hold)
8. Lovely Quilt (on hold)

Hoping to have some of these done before the 4th of July weekend!
Wishing everyone good luck with all of their projects! Have a blessed day!

Progress

Actually...I'm finished...With the blocks for the Clover and Violet QAL! I made all 9 blocks + 3 extra, just in case. I love the way they turned out. I've never made a block this big and I like the way the patterns in the fabrics show in the wide strips. I won't show every block but these are a few of my favorites.

Also coming along is the May quilt (top) for do.Good.Stitches. I'm so loving this quilt! I love that it has so many different fabrics. I wish I could have a quilt like this...with parts and pieces from all over. Some of the pieces I would not have chosen but I love them with all the others. It is almost like an "eye-spy". There are polka-dot cherries, cars, seahorses, pigs, flowers of all sorts, leaves and green apples, stripes, dots, checks, a giraffe and a few owls and of course a number of little birdies and so much more! What's not to love?! I'll post some photos tomorrow.

Have a wonderful, blessed day!

WIP Wednesday No. 30

Last week was very productive...as far as sewing goes. I actually finished a couple of things!
I finally got the summer tank tops done (at least a few) for my sister.

And I did my June blocks for do.Good.Stitches.

Still working on: 1. Quilting the second Buttercup Patchwork.

2. Still working on the blocks for Clover and Violet's QAL but making good progress!

3. Still working on aprons, 4.choosing fabrics for the Kaleidoscope QAL, 5. Strawberry Tablecloth, 6. garden and 7. embroidery project.

Still on hold: Lovely quilt and PM quilt.

Not too bad, I don't think. I am definitely working on narrowing all this down minus the ongoing projects like the QAL's and the garden, of course. Checking another project off the WiP list is what my goal for this week is. Wish me luck! Now I'm heading off to see what everyone else has accomplished/worked on this week over at Lee's blog.

Finished Just In Time For...

Summer! And Fabric Tuesday over at QuiltStory of course! Linking to join the others there and see what everyone has been up to.

This year I determined myself to make her several. Thankfully she liked them all. There is one other that I did not photograph. It was a jersey knit with big stripes of gray and green.

I think that one may have been her favorite. I like the purple guazy one best. And it was the easiest to make. I like the fabric and it was very versatile and forgiving. The jersey knit was not. The knit is a fabric I am not anxious to work with again..
But I will make more. I've already gotten requests for pajamas, more shirts, aprons and a dress, maybe? Now to get started...
*Edited to add link to Sugar Bee Crafts! I love this site. The link ups are much like the ones at All Things Heart and Home-many different things, not just sewing!

I was lost on where to start a Bible study on prayer since the topic is so huge. So instead I read from Mark. Very to the point writing. I really like that. One verse in particular I loved.

Mark 1:35 Very early in the morning, while it was still dark, Jesus got up, left the house and went off to a solitary place, where He prayed.

Maybe I found a start to my prayer study after all!

Stitch and Quilt Along Fabrics and Progress

Finally chose (for certain) the fabrics I will be using for Clover and Violet's quilt along.  I've been so excited to get this one started!  I can hardly wait to get to the embroidery...

This weekend, though, I did get a good start.  I finalized the fabric choices which are all from my stash.  I'm using a stack of fabric that is actually cut for a specific project.  I purchased this in February at the Rocky Mountain Sew Expo.  The kit was made of these beautiful, feminine fabrics which the vendor said were made by Lecien.  (I have never seen them anywhere else and was never able to find it online to purchase more.  Has anyone seen it before?) The stack came with the solid off-white and pink.

The perle cottons are colors I had on hand.  I will definitely need to add a few darker colors, I think.

I added in a few strips of Mill House polka dots.

I did make some progress on it as well.  I got the white embroidery squares cut and the interfacing applied.

I also got the 2" corner sqares cut and I'll be adding them on today as well as the white strips.  I hope to also have time to play with the colors to add some of the other strips this evening.  Then I'll be choosing colors for the kaleidoscope QAL.  I'm thinking of AMH's Loulouthi.  These are such strong, bold colors which I normally would not use because I'm intimidated by all that color and pattern.  But I think for this project it would be a great way to start getting acquainted with some of these big patterns and colors.

All in all it was a productive weekend.  My mom and brother added some more plants to our little garden.  The backyard is coming along nicely...it already looks better than just a couple of weeks ago.

I heard this verse this weekend and it has stuck with me.  I've been thinking alot about prayer and how to pray more effectively.  This verse brought that to the forefront again.

"Watch and pray so that you will not fall into temptation.  The spirit is willing but the flesh is weak."
                                                                             ~Matthew 26:40-42
I wish you all a great week and God Bless!
