WiP Wednesday #35

Happy WiP Wednesday everyone!  Today I get to sew!  I have plenty of WiP's to work on and with all the link ups at Freshly Pieced today, I'm sure there will be no shortage of inspiration!  Thank you all!  Maybe I'll get some more blocks done!

Here's this weeks list.
Quilt Alongs:
*Kaleidoscope (I'll be making more blocks today!)
*Clover and Violet (A new pattern was put up yesterday, I hope to get to that today).
*Farmers Wife (I'm definitely making more blocks today!  Hopefully 3-4!)

On-going projects:
*Quilt for Aaliya, my new niece!  (I'll be finishing up some blocks today.  Also cutting the sashing strips.)
*Strawberry Tablecloth (I have not made any progress but I've challenged myself to finish by the end of July.)
*Tablerunner/DishTowels (Almost done!)
*Pretty {little} pouch swap (I'm in!  And I think I have a good idea for my partner.  Hope to post fabrics and
maybe some progress by the weekend!)

On hold:
*PM Quilt
*Lovely Quilt

And that is it!  Only 7 projects going now and 3 of them will be ongoing.  My hope is to start some holiday projects when I get a couple more of these ones done.  I'm hoping by August!  Wish me luck!  And good luck to all of you on your WiP's!

love, Lisa

Blocks Galore

So, yesterday was aprons.  Today is blocks.  I've got alot of them going on.  First, I've finished the block for the C&V Embroidery 101.  Finally.  Here is my finished block:

I (with help from my sister.  Thanks, G~) got a start to my blocks for the Kaleidoscope QAL.  My first block did not come out so well so when I had a chance to get some help, I took it!  She made a perfect block.  Now all I have to do is make the rest...

July block for do.Good.Stitches.  I must say, I'm really liking this color combo (Naomi asked for blues and yellows with a bit of brown, beige) and the block.  They were really easy to make and I'm thinking I can whip a whole quilt up with that block in time for Christmas?

My sister and I spent a good bit of last weekend working on blocks for a quilt for the newest member of our family, Aaliya.  She is our younger brothers baby girl and we wanted to make something sweet for her.  We are doing a wonky log cabin, no pattern, just making 12.5 in finished blocks using all fabrics from our stashes.  So far so good!

And last but  not least, I've made a bit of progress on the FWQAL blocks!  Not quite up to everyone else yet but I'm not in a big rush.  I'm using all stash and trying to make it as scrappy as possible.  This quilt is really making me realize that my stash is seriously lacking in several colors.  So far I have 5 done.  Almost.  I still have to stitch the handle on block 3, the basket, and I plan on making block 5, Bat Wing, over.  Just not right now.

I'm having a great time with all these blocks!  It is especially fun to be working with my sister who is here in my town now!  Can't wait to have the quilt for Aaliya finished!  Then we can plan our next joint project...you up for it G~?!

Thanks for stopping by!

love, Lisa

Good news:  Philippians 1:3-6
I thank my God every time I remember you.  In all my prayers, for all of you, I always pray with joy because of your partnership in the gospel from the first day until now, being confident of this, that He who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.

Aprons Galore

So much going on in my sewing world lately that this project (which has been on my WiP list for months) kinda got lost in it all.  It took forever to get them started once I had the fabric but once the sewing started, it was super easy.  I actually made the two small ones in an afternoon.
Apron for Olivia
,The pattern could not have been easier for this one.  Very clear and simple and cute!
Apron for PeytanBella
The following aprons were requests from my girl and her friend.  They both chose the pattern and the fabric.

The pink, ruffly, French apron is for my sweet girl.  This is so her...very girly and frilly.

And finally, the cupcake apron is for her BFF.
The patchwork bib was a special request and so easy to put together one the patchwork was complete.
Patchwork back
All patterns are from this book:
I have plans for a couple more for myself but not yet.  These were so fun and easy to make!

Linking to these:  Head over and be prepared to get loads of inspiration and ideas!  Have a great day!

*Edited to add link to Handmade Tuesdays!

Good words for today from Philippians 1:7.  One of my favorite verses.

It is right for me to feel this way about all of you, since I have you in my heart...

love, Lisa

WIP Wednesday No. 34

Phew. I made it. I really did not think I would get to post today and I'd have to miss WIP Wed!

That would be a tragedy! Not really. But I do like to have this day to gather thoughts about projects and take inventory. So here goes.

Quilt Alongs:
* Kaleidoscope-I'm now chain piecing and I'll be assembling blocks soon!
* C&V Embroidery 101-I have the newest pattern on the block and I'll be stitching soon!
* FWQAL- Yes, I joined. I'll show the blocks I have done soon!

Projects I'm currently working on:
*do.Good.Stitches-July blocks-I have the fabric chosen and I'll piece this weekend.
*Aprons-I finished a couple (I'll share soon) but I have like 6 more that I want to make.
*Dress for Christy-I'll cut it soon, Chris!
*Bag for Christy-I'll cut that soon, too! At least we got the fabric now...
*Strawberry tablecloth-One corner is complete, 2nd is started!
*Dishtowel/Tablerunner-embroidery is almost done!

Projects on hold (still):
*PM Quilt
*Lovely Quilt (I'm thinking of taking the blocks apart to do something else with them)

That's 9 projects going now. I did finish a couple of big ones recently, though so I dont feel so bad having so many. And 3 of them are quilt alongs! This is not too bad! I'm off to spend a few minutes actually sewing now!

God Bless!

On Time

It has been a long weekend! I hope everyone had a fun and safe 4th of July.

This post is very late in coming as I have actually had this quilt done for several days. In fact, after setting a date for myself to have it complete, I actually did finish it before then. I wanted to have it done before the holiday weekend because I knew I would have no time at my sewing machine or computer.

Anyway, it is done. I'm very pleased with it for the most part. As always, there are things I would do differently if I ever did this one again. I had no idea how hard it would be to match up the back with the front and have the same width of fabric around the edge of the blocks. Why was that so hard?

Aside from the matching up in the back, this quilt was a pleasure to make! I loved looking at all the fabrics and getting the blocks in the mail...that was fun! Everyone did a great job at providing what I requested and the quilt turned out nicer than I imagined! I must say, though, that it is no small thing to hand ones work over to someone. Esp. someone you dont know. Thus far I've only made things for family and friends so there is little in the way of criticism, even of the constructive sort! So, here's to putting it out there!

Thanks ladies of the Peace Circle! I'm already started on looking for a pattern for my next quilt with ya'll in September.  Quilt tutorial found here: http://www.modabakeshop.com/2010/12/sugar-pop-n-change-quilt.html

God bless you and your family!

love, Lisa
