I usually buy bundles; I'm really bad at combining fabrics. My new favorite is Fat Eighth bundles. Thanks for the giveaway!

Today is Giveaway Day!  Hosted by SewMamaSew this is a biannual event that I have never (before today) participated in either with a giveaway or by signing up.

This year I'm going to do both!  I will be giving away a little bundle of products that I love.  I hope you like them, too!  And I will be visiting some of the other blogs to sign up for their giveaways.  It is a great way to find new and interesting blogs to read!  Just click the Giveaway Day photo above to go to the link up!

Aren't those little hearts just adorable?  I love this fabric and I can't wait to actually use some of it!

So, my giveaway to you will include:

- 5 fat quarter cuts of the Pam Kitty Morning fabrics shown (1 fq of each)
- a new pair of little scissors
- a new spool of matching thread
- a pattern for a cuddly throw
-1 yard of pink and green trim
- a little handmade goodie!

I hope you like it!  To enter just leave a comment and let me know how you buy fabric.  Do you buy cuts from the same line or are you good at putting different lines together to make them look good?  Do you buy small cuts or yardage?  Have fun entering the giveaways and good luck!  Thank you for visiting!

P.S. Don't forget to include your email so I can contact you if you win and I will ship internationally.  Good luck!

I am the vine; you are the branches. Whoever abides in me and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit... ~John 15:5 ESV

I like to buy by the yard. I buy pieces of collections and entire collections. Just matters if I like the entire collection. I have just started getting pretty good at mixing fabrics!!

Monica said...

My shopping is very random. I buy what catches my eye. And nine times out of ten I buy fat quarters or 1/4 yds. I get lots of variety for little money that way.

Judy H said...

I'm an impulse buyer. I am learning to buy an entire line though.

Wendy said...

fabric is so expensive over here that I buy a lot of Layer Cakes and Charm squares. When buying yardage, I just buy a yard of a few that I like, so not necessarily from the same line.

Barbara O. said...

I tend to buy impulsively what I love, usually FQs. Thanks for the chance to win this lovely bundle!

I buy individual pieces I love. Usually a half yard or more. My favorite part of quilting is putting fabrics together so I rarely buy lines of fabrics. I love what you have put together!

I only buy prints that I like in fat quarter:) i love variety!

Shauna said...

I tend to buy for a quilt, and depending on what it needs. I love staying within a line because everything goes so well, but sometimes I have to step outside the line.

Happier Than A Bird Quilts said...

I either buy a whole bundle so I can have all of the coordinating prints, or I'll shop for fat quarters that I love to add to my stash.
I usually for go for fat quarters or 1/2 yard cuts because it's easier to store.

Thanks for the chance, this is such a great giveaway!

I tend to buy by color...not necessarily by designer. The amount depends on the price. If I find a really good sale of something I like, I will stock up!

Emily C said...

I pick what I think looks good. I rarely use all of one collection for a project. I really enjoy playing mix and match.

Bailey said...

I buy few FQs from a line then add in fabric from my stash.

Jen said...

I love to buy from the same line and my favorite is FQ bundles, but I usually don't want to spend that much so end up with Fat eighths or charm packs

Kayla Yapuncich said...

Thanks so much for the chance - what a generous giveaway! And I'm not super comfortable picking fabrics so I usually pick pre-cuts of the same line and then get yardage for my backing. Simple, but it works for me!

sharpie said...

I buy by color, and always break up my purchases by color/value when I add them to my stash.

Quilting Nanny said...

Lpve the giveaway! THanks! I tend to buy from Joann's craft store and cut as I need. But lately I have been kind of liking fat quarters as they are the right size for so many things, and just enough fabric for a nice sized project! But I still buy by the yard!

Judith said...

I just buy fabric that I like, and try to make sure that I get something in every colour. Thanks for the chance to win.

CraftyHourMom said...

Fabulous selection! I esp love the pink&green trim. I buy for a project, just as much as I need (or so I hope!) to keep the stash down. So far I've stuck to designer lines mostly as I haven't discovered a knack for colour yet!

Vicki H said...

Years ago, I would buy a couple of yards if I really liked something. Now I buy what I need, kind of a self imposed diet. Thanks for the giveaway.

Laura said...

I usually buy small cuts and bundles for quilting.

Emilyplays said...

Pretty scissors! I buy fabric from any line and I buy half yards unless it is a staple.

Carla Keahey said...

I buy for specific projects and add extra yardage to add to the stash. I seek out clearance and sale fabrics for things I'm not working on currently.

Michell said...

I have started buying bundles recently, but all love small cuts

Jenny said...

Oh, love those fabrics, what a cute and thoughtful package of items, there. Hmmm ... the answer to your question is that I buy it all. I buy yards only a deep discount, because I don't mind to piece backs. I usually buy half yards, and rarely of the same line (exception: Denyse Schmidt), but occasionally I buy a nice FQ bundle that someone has put together (e.g. the Domino Dots in several colors). I only *just* started buying precuts (because I can't sew through the other fabric quickly enough), and I'm looking for nice precut patterns or precut-friendly styles. Wow, I doubt you were looking for that much info, LOL. Thanks!!

I usually buy scraps- either in bulk on Etsy or from the scrap bin at my favorite quilt shop. I love getting other people's scraps and it's fun to see what I can come up with to do with them. If I really like a line I will buy a charm pack (or mini charm pack) of it. Sometimes I will buy fat quarters of something that catches my eye.

Deb (Two Cheeky Monkeys) said...

I like to buy FQ bundles from the same line because I'm terrible at matching fabrics, LOL.

Goosegirl said...

Oh I adore Pam kitty Morning!
I usually pick a print or two of a fabric line and buy 3 yards and then a few smaller pieces of accent fabrics.

Annie said...

I'm terrible at picking out fabrics! I have to bring my husband to the fabric store so that he can make the decisions for me!

Kim said...

I buy fabrics mostly online and only buy what I need to complete a project with fabrics from my stash.

Nikita said...

I usually like buying fat quarter bundles as I am not great at putting them together at all..but if I am buying single peices it's usually half a yard of basics to fill in any areas I am lacking.

budgeteer said...

What a lovely giveaway! I buy the fabrics I like online and hope for the best. I try and use it all up in various projects, so will often mix and match. Usually I am pleased with the combinations.

Such a great giveaway! I usually buy fabric when I just walk around shops and see the fabric first and then think of the project.

Fran said...

I buy fabric online mostly & am getting better at buying blenders & good basics that go well with other fabrics - these are the fabrics I tend to use. Before that I'd buy fat quarter or fat eighth bundles of fabric lines that I loved but often I'd not want to use the good stuff or break up a collection. Now if I see a good basic print at a good price that I ow I'll use again & again I buy a yard or two. Thanks for hosting your first SMS Giveaway!

Ned's Place said...

I buy fabric cause I like the range 2metres of the main focal fabric for borders then a few 1/2 metre cuts from different ranges to mix including fabrics from stash, plus I usually know wether I'm going to make a quilt/ bag/ present depending on the focal main fabric when I buy it.

Gill said...

I buy small cuts from the same line and large cuts of fabrics I really love!

happygoluckyquilter said...

What a pretty giveaway.
I buy fq bundles of lines. I need to take the plunge and be more bold with mixing fabrics and making my own bundles.
emma.house@thebowesmuseum.org.uk

Martina said...

I actually buy half yards when they are on sale. As I love scrappy quilts it works great for me.

Mary@QuiltGenius said...

My answer to all of those questions is yes. LOL

I buy matching lines and then I buy any single fabric that catches my eye. I mix and match and lines rarely stay together unless I am shopping with a pattern in hand.

When I buy for a pattern, I buy yardage. When I buy solids, I buy yardage. When I am just shopping for patterned fabric on a whim, I tend to buy 1/2 yard cuts unless I think it would be a cute binding...then I get 2 yards of it. :)

Nykie P said...

I have stacks of every size, and when I buy it comes down to what I can afford, how much I love it, and what I plan to do with it! Such a lovely offer - thank you, and Merry Christmas

this is my first time in your blog, and i have to say, your photography is fantastic! and your giveaway items are droolicious!!
i always buy fabric that catches my eye, and honestly, i have only bought fabric that i loved. yes, i have bought coordinating fabric, or two colorways of the same print, but i don't usually buy more than that because i make clothes usually, and buy more than 2 yards at a time..

thanks for the giveaway!

Simon Says Sew said...

I generally buy 1/2 yard cuts and I've been trying to get more adventurous at putting my own colors/prints together.

Taryn said...

I have been buying by the line, but I am starting to branch out a bit. Half-Yards are my favorite cuts! Thanks for the chance to win!

Zenia Sofia said...

I am greedy with fabric...If i like something I start worrying what length will be enough for every possible projects I could make from it. So I end up getting lots of it...I tend to mix and match different fabric lines and even types sometimes. It makes it more exciting that having it all pre-matched and ready. It feels even more made by me! Thanks!

Great giveaway, thanks!

I often buy fabric bundles put together by people more clever than me! In general, I have found that buying what I consider basics - low volume, text prints, any single colour prints, I want at least a half yard to a yard, and I buy fat quarters when I want a whole set of a designer collection, or for individual novelties. Your fabrics are darling and I hope I win! Thanks for the chance.

I recently "discovered" jelly rolls and love them now. But usually I just buy 1/2 yd cuts of whatever catches my eye.

meeshelle said...

What a great giveaway, I love the whole bundle! I like to buy fabric in yards for when I'm sewing bags. If I see some coordinating fabric from the same line that I like I'll get it, but usually I'm matching random ones that I see in the store.

Lisa Marie said...

I usually buy yardage of just the specific fabrics I like, which is a lot of them! Every once in a while there is a whole line I love and I want them all. Then I usually buy a layer cake because the FQ bundle is just too expensive and the 10" squares give me options for what pattern to use. When I use a whole line though, I always mix in stuff from my stash to make it my own.

Jo Robertson (thejoyofthehousetomyself) said...

I usually buy half yards online, from the states if it works out cheaper with shipping and customs charges...usually just a random selection of what I fancy!

I like looking for bargains and save up if i want something special_i bought a lovely charm pack and made my mum a lap quilt she loves-

Thanks again and best wishes for love, health and peace.

I'm rubbish at putting fabric together so I normally buy bundles. If I'm buying online from the US I normally buy half yards as postage is so expensive it needs to be worthwhile. If purchasing from online from Ireland (home) or UK I would buy fq's. Thanks!

I usually don't buy more than a yard at a time. I like fat quarters a lot!

Sangeetha said...

Since I sew I usually buy in increments of a yard 2 for myself, 1 for my daughter and 1.25 for my son

Love the fabric! I usually yardage. Not often the same line-i like to mix and match. and I love to hand dye my own fabrics!

Jill R. said...

I usually just buy little bits here and there of fabrics that strike my fance :) I occasionaly have purchased several fabrics of a certain line, but it's rare.

Anya said...

I buy here and there, fat quarter packs once in a while. Nothing too matchy matchy. Thanks for the chance!

Amanda said...

I don't really have a method... sometimes I buy things from the same line because I know they'll work together, other times I mix and match - but that's usually only when I can see the fabric in person and hold it next to the other!

SS said...

I usually do smaller projects so I usually just buy what I like when I see it and go from there. I think I've only bought a fat quarter bundle one time.

Gidget said...

I buy fabric online and locally I usually find the project first and then look for the fabric

Julia said...

I usually buy small cuts, unless I'm planning on making clothes. I don't know that I'm fantastic at it, but I usually mix fabrics from different lines.

Dpends how much i love the fabric, i like to buy the line if it is a blender, but othewise i will just get the prints i like

I tend to combine my own fabrics, trying to build my confidence pin that area. Don't always love my selections. I have only bought 1 collection - Indie - and used it together in a quilt and I love it. I tend to buy 1/4 or 1/2 yards, have been wanting to try some precuts though. Thanks for the giveaway!

What beautiful fabric! I usually buy online and often sales, so I tend to have a hodge-podge of fabric from different lines. I often buy in one-yard amounts, sometimes half-yards. It might be less difficult if I bought more from the same line!

Mika said...

I love fat quarter bundles!

Lynne Tilley said...

I usually buy yardage, and buy ¼ to ½ yard extra of everything I buy to build my stash :) :) I also love to get precut bundles, but don't have immediate access to these locally. I have purchased a few like this online, though. I think I'm pretty good at putting different collections together. I prefer looking at fabrics in person if I can just because I like to "feel" everything and hold them up together. What a lovely blog you have. I'm putting you on my follow list in my Feedly! Love that Christmas wall hanging on your header!! Have a wonderful Christmas!

I do both - buy from the same line and mix fabrics. Just depends on the project. If I know what I'm using the fabric for I will often buy yardage. If I'm not sure what I'm using it for or I know it's being used for a quilt top I'll often buy 1/2yd or FQ.

Thanks for the giveaway!

I used to buy random pieces and put them together. But over the last 6 months I've started to buy chunks of a collection.

What a fun bunch! I usually look for something I love. I generally don't buy an entire like and I usually don't have a plan for it. Thanks for this great giveaway!

Such a cute giveaway! If I have a project in mind I tend to shop around for individual fabrics. If I'm just building up stash (which I need to do as a new quilter), I look for large remnants that are on sale.

Patty D from NC said...

i buy fabric on line and usually wait for the latest line of a fabric designers

Brooke said...

I usually buy my fabrics in the remnant bin. I mostly sew for my young children and remnants are cheap!

Lori said...

I buy what I like and put together colorways for specific projects.

I tend to stick to fabrics from the same line and would love to be brave enough to start mixing them up a bit. I tend to buy fat quarters or half or full yards as I make cloths for my daughter and bags mostly. I am learning to quilt so I am sure layer cakes, charm packs and jelly rolls will soon be a regular part of my shopping habit.

I am currently on a no buy diet and shopping from stash. I like to make scrap quilts.

Depending on how much I love the fabric I might buy a yard, 1/2 year, pre-cuts, etc. IT all depends on how much I love it, and how bad I feel about my ever-growing stash ;) Thanks for the giveaway!

I have a hard time putting together fabric -- so buying from a line is great for me. Plus, I lived overseas for a while where fabric was so expensive, so I got hooked on internet fabric shopping -- a lot easier to buy from a line than to try and match online!

Lora said...

We have a new fabric store less than a mile from my house. If I go to the store, I buy yardage. If I order online, I buy smaller cuts.

annette said...

i usually buy from the remnants bin. seriously my kids are small enough i can do that. i also like to look at estate sales and things like that.

I buy most of my fabric from a small shop I visit once a month. I usually by fabrics in the same line because I am a new quilter and that seems safe to me. My friend who owns the quilt shop helps me step outside the box a little and I am learning to mix it up. I love to buy fat quarters and other pre cuts.

Ramona said...

I really vary in how I buy fabrics. I am always looking in thrift stores, garage sales, for treasures. I also buy from local quilt shop and online. I buy precuts to yardage depending on what I am making.

Since all I have to pick from is Wal-Mart, I have to try and match fabric that doesn't actually go together. I usually buy only what I need too. I sometimes buy online but it is so hard to really see what you are getting. We had a beautiful quilt shop here but it went out of business after 2 years. I miss it so much. I usually buy yardage from different lines to make my quilts BUT I just made a large quilt with a dozen or so from same line and it is SO fabulous that maybe I need to try this again!

Anita said...

I buy precuts like crazy. I like my quilts to be matchy matchy. :)

I usually buy 1/2 yard of some fabric in a line and then add other fabrics that interest me

Bossymamma said...

I buy mainly FQs - just picking what appeals to me, but I also buy by the yard when I see a bargain.

I do a bit of both. I like the scripture at the end of your blog post. Do you celebrate Advent? My family celebrates with a Jesse Tree. We hang a new ornament each day beginning with the prophesy in Isaiah 11:1-2 and ending with the fulfillment - Jesus' birth on Christmas Day. Please visit my Etsy shop to see pictures of the ornaments. I make them and send them out all over the world. Go tell it on the mountain! Joy to the world!

I buy from the same line or purchase coordinated bundles. It isn't easy for me to get to my LQS with two littles, so I tend to do my shopping online and coordinated lines or bundles makes my hectic life a little easier :-)

OhioLori said...

I love to get Fat Quarter bundles....or I buy pieces in 1/2 yd cuts. Also depends on what I am going to make...then buy bigger cuts of course.

Christie said...

I buy a metre or two here and there as I see fabric I like. Mostly I like to find fabric treasures in op shops that people have donated! Thanks for your generosity!

Sophisticat Studio said...

I've always preferred to mix & match, and buy anything from a fat quarter to three meters or more, depending on how I envision using it. Lately I've been designing patterns with the intention of publishing them, so then I tend to use fat quarters of one line.
