Friday {do.Good} Finish

Hello!  Welcome to another Friday Finish!  I'm so glad to have this little quilt finished because I made it in time to link up over at Crazy Mom Quilts for Finish It Up Friday!  And because I can move on to other projects!

Now, this is finished but not quite.  I have a couple of rows of stitching that caused puckers up on the top and I need to figure out why and fix it.  And it needs to be washed and dried to be completely finished, too.

These are just a couple of the little houses I made.  Very plain now that I look at them like this.  But, I think that's o.k.  There was quite a bit going on in the front.

And I obviously need to trim the threads...but still, basically it is done, right?  :)

I opted for no binding since I thought that the front was so busy.  And I like the effect on the back of looking more cohesive with just the light fabric.

So, there it is.  I will have another chance to make a do.Good quilt in just a few months.  I can't wait!
Thanks for stopping by today!  I'm off to start pulling stitches.  Have a wonderful, safe, fun, sewing-filled weekend!

November WiP's

Happy Wednesday!
It is, of course, WiP Wednesday at Freshly Pieced and today I am joining in.

Today I'm actually working quite a bit on a couple of sewing projects.  First a binding on a quilt for the ladies back in Colorado that they sent for me to finish up.

And a bit later, I'll be getting this little village quilt all sandwiched and ready to quilt...finally!  This is my quilt for the Peace circle of do.Good Stitches from back in July!

And finally, today I will be shipping off a pair of blocks for November in the same circle.  I must admit that this was a block that I have been seeing a lot of online lately but it never made me want to rush and make them.  Now that I have made them, I am really hoping to make a few more for a quick table runner for fall!  I think they were so fun and easy to make and they are so bold.

That's quite a bit to get done in one day but I think I can, I think I can, I think I can....

What are your WiP's this week?  Hope you get them all done!  Have a great day!  Happy Sewing!

A Friday Finish

One of the things I love most about sewing is that I get requests for special items.  Granted, sometimes the requests are of the sort that I do not love, namely, mending but for now can we focus on the special items?  Yeah.  I'll do that for now.

My middle child chose this fabric from my favorite fabric store back in Colorado, Fancy Tiger.  While I love this fabric it is not something I would have picked.  Not sure why.  He loved it and said, "I would like you to make me a little pillow with this fabric."  That was, oh, about 8 months ago!  Here is your pillow, Boy!

This pillow couldn't be any more simple.  I just made a quilted panel of the fabric and found a nice accent color for a wee, little, .75" border.  The back is finished with an envelope closure also with a bit of the accent fabric.

It really is nice fabric by Lotta Jansdotter.  It feels so nice, too.  One and a half inch spaced diagonal quilted lines is all the embellishment I added.  This lets the fabric he liked so much take center stage.  I'm glad he likes it!

Now to make another pillow that was requested by my other boy also many months ago.  He chose his fabrics, too.  This one will not quite have the same modern feel as his brothers, I'll just say that!

Now I finally have a project to show for Finish it up Friday over at Crazy Mom Quilts so I'm linking up today!  And I just read that she is in Colorado!  How lovely!

Have a great weekend, happy sewing, and God bless!

Thoughtful Thursday

I'm thinking about sewing things.  And family things.  Nothing too deep, just some random, wondering thoughts.  First, the negative.  And then because I am forcing myself these days to see something wonderful in everything, the positive.  :)

I very much do not like trimming blocks...even with the use of a cute, diminutive, 3.5" ruler.

The positive side is that when I'm all done with the chopping, I get to fluff up a pretty little pile of stringy scraps.  Right before I toss them, I am going to photograph every.single.pile. of them.

Another plus to this one is that these blocks did come out so pretty.  These are heading to a quilter to make into something even more wonderful.  A do.Good quilt.  The tute for this block is from Fresh Lemons.

There is nothing negative about this boy except that he keeps growing up.  He turned 14 over the last weekend and I've been brooding that "my baby is getting so big" for the past several days.  It does not help that he has not been home since Tuesday.  He's on a school trip and won't be home until Friday.  Boo.  I miss him.  But on the positive side, this trip is great fun and learning and experience for him so I can't be too mournful of missing him.  That and the fact that I'm sure he is having a grand time is good enough for me!

Last week I was out taking photos around our (tiny) town.  There are orchards everywhere, so naturally I snapped a few photos of them.  This got me thinking about fruit as we (Andy and I) were trying to figure out if a tree was a fruit tree or a nut tree.  That train of thought led me to the Fruits of the Spirit (Galatians 5:22). Which led me to thoughts about sewing or rather embroidering the verse.  So that is what I am playing with now.  Just a small idea but I have big plans for it.  Let's see if it happens!

Phew!  How's that for random thoughts?  Have a blessed day!
